Although Shirley and I have often cursed, Carolyn, Darrell, Tom, and Joyce's names for giving us this job, now and then, we see things that make all the work worthwhile. We can't help sometimes thinking of the Bares like we think of our children and often our grandchildren - bickering, arguing, playing tricks on each other, and all the time acting like juvenile delinquents - but having a ball! While most of us strive for that coveted "Bad Bare" badge, we overlook or forget the many good things our club and individual members of the Bubbly Bares do, both in the name of the Bubbly Bares and on their own to make life a little better for those that need help, be it just making a newcomer feel welcome to starting a major program for the those in need. With this in mind we have decided to institute a new award for the member we feel most displays the above attributes - the "Good Bare Award”.
Therefore, we feel the first "Good Bare Award" should go to one of our members that almost everybody knows, but few know well. He is always one of the first to volunteer when needed, pitches in on every project as if it was the most important thing in the world, NEVER COMPLAINS, and is always there when another Bare needs help. If anything, his heart is too big for his own good. He is probably best known for his pet project, the aid program for the Jamaican Schools, but is involved in many, many other activities that benefit others, while remaining in the background. He “made” the Bubbly Bare skit this Halloween. We decided we needed "something" to take the spotlight off the complete ineptness of our guys who couldn't come close to a coordinated dance. At the very last minute, when Jim Stack and I saw him in his "Fairy Costume" from an earlier skit, we asked him to play the "Buffoon" of our group. Without a moment's hesitation he said, "Whatever you want." His adlib during the dance portion put our skit over the top!
For these and the many, many more contributions he has made to the Bubbly Bares and others, we’d like to give the first "Good Bare Award to our wacky, but loveable, "Rasta Bill" Schulze!
